About Me

Pen began his investment industry career with PaineWebber in New York City in 1997 before moving on to Spencer Clarke, LLC and Dean Witter Reynolds. Upon moving back to his hometown of Decatur, Illinois, in 1999, he managed an office for Edward Jones and later joined Morgan Stanley in 2006. Pen moved to Stifel in 2026 to form the Primary Wealth Management Group with a focus on multigenerational wealth planning, high-net-worth investment strategies, and business development.

Pen earned a B.S. in Information Technology from Syracuse University in 1996 and holds Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses.

Pen and his wife, Dawn, reside in Decatur. They have two adult children, Halle and Will. Pen enjoys playing tennis and traveling to see his family, existing clients, and new places.

About Me

Pen Shade recruited Pete to join Morgan Stanley in 2015 to grow the team’s footprint and amplify their efforts on helping individuals across the country with a background and interest in banking. Pete moved to Stifel with Pen in 2026 to form the Primary Wealth Management Group. Pete plays a key role in supporting the team’s investment selection process and working with new and existing clients. He generates innovative ideas for clients and prospective clients seeking to diversify from a concentrated position or undergoing a liquidity event.  

Pete earned a B.A. in Finance from Saint Louis University and holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc., which identifies those individuals who have met the experience requirements of the CFP Board, have successfully completed financial planning coursework, and have passed the CFP® Certification Examination. In addition, he holds Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses.

Originally from a large, Decatur-based farm family, Pete and his wife, Natalie, live in St. Louis and have four young children.
